# Projects and documents

Diagrams in dia are organized as project → document → diagram.

## Projects

A project is a container for documents. Projects are listed under Projects (プロジェクト) in the sidebar, each with the number of documents it holds.

### Unsorted

Unsorted (未分類) is a project that exists from the start. Documents created without a project go here. Unsorted can't be deleted.

### Create a project

1. Choose the + (Create project, プロジェクトを作成) next to Projects (プロジェクト) in the sidebar. You can also use Create project (プロジェクトを作成) in search (⌘ + K).
2. Enter a name and a description. Names can be up to 20 characters. Descriptions support Markdown.
3. Choose Create (作成).

When you ask your AI for diagrams, say "in the project (name)" to have the document created there. In a project with no documents, Copy request for AI (AI への依頼文をコピー) copies a ready-made request.

### Rename or delete a project

Open the project and use the buttons at the top right.

- **Rename (名前を変更)**: Change the name and description.
- **Delete (削除)**: Delete the project, along with every document in it and every diagram in those documents. The confirmation shows how many documents and diagrams will be deleted.

To keep the documents, move them to another project before deleting.

## Documents

Your AI creates documents; you can't create them in the web app.

### Document lists

Home shows all your documents; a project page shows that project's documents.

- Type in Filter documents (ドキュメントを絞り込む) to filter by name, description, or project name.
- Filter by project (Home only).
- Sort by Recently updated (更新順) or Name (名前順).
- Switch between grid and list.

Documents are marked by state:

| Mark | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Steps (ステップ) | A steps document |
| Updating (更新中) | Your AI updated a diagram a moment ago |
| Shared by link (リンク共有中) | Shared by link |

### Document actions

Use the "…" (More actions, その他の操作) menu on a document in a list, or More actions (その他の操作) at the top right of an open document.

| Action | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Rename (名前を変更) | Change the name, up to 20 characters. |
| Edit description (説明を編集) | Change the description. Markdown is supported. |
| Move (移動) | Move the document to another project. |
| Copy link (リンクをコピー) | Copy the shared link (only while shared by link). |
| Delete (削除) | Delete the document along with its diagrams. |

## Document kinds

| Kind | How diagrams relate | Good for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Standard document | Each diagram stands on its own. | An overview plus one diagram per area |
| Steps document | From the second diagram on, each diagram builds on the one before it. | Building up an architecture gradually, comparing before and after |

In a steps document:

- Elements from the previous diagram stay in the same place. New parts animate in on screen.
- Changes to an earlier diagram carry over to the later ones.
- Deleting a diagram also removes what it added from the later diagrams.

The kind is fixed when the document is created and can't be changed. If you want a steps document, tell your AI before it creates the document.

## Diagrams

Your AI creates diagrams. From More actions (その他の操作) at the top right of an open diagram, you can:

| Action | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Rename diagram (図の名前を変更) | Change the diagram's name, up to 20 characters. This is recorded as a new version. |
| Delete diagram (図を削除) | Delete the diagram. Its version history is deleted too. |

To reorder diagrams or copy a diagram to another document, ask your AI.

## About deleting

Deleting can't be undone. Read the confirmation carefully before you delete.

## Search

Choose Search (検索) in the sidebar, or press ⌘ + K (Ctrl + K on Windows). Find documents and projects by name and open them. You can also go to AI integration, create a project, find icons, and switch the theme from here.
